For the past five years Peter Philps has been the creative brains behind all of the CHANEL seasional makeup collections. This collection is the first collection from Chanel since Peter Philips stepped down as Creative Director of the makeup power-house. The Makeup Studio has always been part of the process, I imagine they were always the brains behind Peter Philips ideas, and what incredible ideas did he have. Some of my all-time favourite makeup products were his creations. Luna, the most amazing illuminator was part of his first holiday collection and then he brought out a palette of cream/gloss eyeshadows for the following Christmas collection. I was afraid that this years Christmas collection would not be as dynamic, but my fears were proved wrong when I saw this collection. The Chanel Makeup Studio has given us a sophisticated yet flamboyant collection this year that can used to create the most sexy look but could also give you the most beautifully natural look, this is so hard to acheive in one collection. Peter Philips will still be doing all the makeup for Chanel’s campaigns and shows.
There is one of the most impressive eyeshadow palettes that I have seen in quite a while. It includes five eyeshadows which can be used in so many ways. It includes beige, bronze and violet plum giving you the option to hold back with your look or really go for it. The lip colour for this collection as always with Chanel is mega. They really do make the most beautiful red lipsticks. There are two shades in the collection, both from Rouge Allure, which gives them a velvety matte texture while not drying your lips out. My favourite one is LA PRÉCIEUSE which is a bold and vibrant red that matches the ROUGE RUBIS nail colour. Then if you rather deep tones on your lips LA DESIRÉE is an intense burgundy that matches the ACCESSOIRE ROUGE RUBIS nail colour. If you’re not a lover of strong lip colour RADIEUSE, a bluish pink lippy is the perfect fit!
Chanel always brings out some cool coloured mascara’s, the summer collection was amazing with a fantastic blue one. For the Christmas Collection there is a bronze one, this will look incredible on anyone with blue or green eyes. There is also an amazing bronze liquid eyeliner, perfect for anyone who is afraid of black.
Poudre Universelle Libre Moon Light is back again for Christmas, this is a beautifully soft sparkling powder, I love it for the body, looks beautiful on the décolleté (chest). I think if used in the wrong place on your face it can look a bit too disco so be careful not to apply it all over the face, keep it to the cheekbone area.
