The Best of Moisturisers

I totally understand that not everyone is willing to spend a small fortune on their moisturiser, and sometimes I am one of those people. There are times that I just can’t justify spending loads of cash on a moisturiser.  As I explained in The best of Cleansers/Exfoliators they are the key to more youthful skin and your moisturisers main job is to hydrate your skin. And for this you do not need to be spending obscene amounts of money to achieve good results. Now I am not saying that the more expensive moisturisers are a waste of money, they are so not, but if you don’t have the cash for it don’t panic! Your moisturiser should last your between 6 – 9 months, if  your using more than that you are using too much. You only need the smallest amount of product to hydrate your skin. I always tell people to use their baby finger nail as a guide. Your skin will not benefit from using more than you’re supposed to, it will just appear oily and your makeup will slide off your face. lait-creme-concentre_2One of my all time favourite moisturisers is the French cult brand Embryoilsse. Their Lait-Créme Concentré is a firm favourite in a lot of the worlds most famous models and makeup artists. This creamy lotion is three products in one: primer, moisturizer, and make-up remover. Its formula remains extremely simple and effective with nourishing ingredients that restores the skin’s natural glow and gives a boost to tired dehydrated skin. And the best part is that it is as cheap as chips! I normally get it in France, where you can get it in almost all pharmacies. Don’t you just love pharmacies in France?? That’s one of my favourite things to do when there. I am not sure that my Glenn feels the same way! Although there was one in Cannes that the floor was thick glass and under the glass was a huge fish pond. Back to the product, it can cost up to €20 but in France you can get it as cheap as €8.00. It has not been available in Ireland but it will be very soon! This makes me very happy! As soon as I get a list of stockists I will post it here. 20TN_lgI couldn’t talk about moisturisers and not mention Créme De La Mer, I know it’s mega bucks but it is so beautiful. I love The Moisturising Lotion. It has an ultralight texture so perfect for my oily skin. As with all La Mer products it contains their nutrient-rich Miracle Broth™. It gives your skin a more radiant look. It’s perfect for oily skin or if you happen to live in a warm climate. It is available in Brown Thomas and Harvey Nichols and also online. It costs €210.00. 38x2088x612763mediumThe Hydra Zen range from Lancôme is kinda special. There are a few different types of moisturisers in the range for all skin types but my favourite is by far the Hydra Zen Cream-Gel. This mega hydrating gel is enriched with botanical extracts and provides intense hydration for up to 12 hours. It’s perfect for me when I am working. Sometimes the lighting is very strong and hot and dehydrates the skin but when I use this the skin stays perfect all day. It also protects your skin from wind, air conditioning and heating, can be usedon all skin types and it is available nationwide on all Lancôme counters and costs €52.50. Really is perfect for our bananas weather!!! 46x1836xwh9x01mediumAnother expensive one, but oh so worth it is Esteé Lauder’s Re-Nutriv. This is luxury in a jar, also has incredible science inside and the most amazing thing about it that the formula is still very similar to the origional one that Esteé herself formulated many years ago. It has repairative properties that you will not find in any othe moisturisers. What it promises to do is lift your skin, make it firmer and perfect its appearance. All of this comes at a price of €249.00 for the Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lift Age-Correcting Creme. It is worth it if you can afford it. seavite_face_cremeThis moisturiser from Irish Brand Seavite is beautiful. As with all products from the brand it contains  carefully selected seaweed and other botanical ingredients which promise to calm, moisturise and nourish your skin. I think that it is important to support Irish brands when we can and more importantly when they work. This brand works like a dream! Another great thing about it is that it is really affordable this moisturiser in only €30.00. It is available in pharmacy’s nationwide and also on their online store here. images-5Hydra-Global from Sisley is an intensive hydrating, anti-aging skincare product. It is mainly designed to hydrate your skin but it also dries to a matte finish so is so beautiful under your makeup. As with all Sisley products it is filled with the powers of nature mised with incredible science to give you perfect skin! It is available in Brown Thomas Dublin and Cork and also in Harvey Nichols in Dundrum Town Centre. It costs €168.00.   P054_bigLa Roche-Posay is a French brand that I’m sure I do not need to introduce to you. It has been available in Ireland since the early 00’s and it truly is a brand that does exactly what you want from it. My favourite moisturiser from their range is Toleriane which has been formulated for oily skin, so perfect for me, They have a huge range of products that are very prescriptive so ask in your local pharmacy which would be the best for your skin. Every product from the brand features the Thermal Spring Water from the town of La Roche-Posay in France. This water is used in the treatment of many skin conditions and is the main ingredient in all of their products. This moisturiser only costs €17.50 and is available in most good pharmacy’s.

Thanks a mill for this,I’m really looking forward to Embryolisse getting to Ireland,it’s amazing how hard it is to find a moisturiser that really suits your skin but you always have a broad range to choose from and are completely unbiased in your recommendations.I actually bought the AlphaH antiageing cleanser you recommended and have been absolutely loving it!
