Ambre Solaire’s new Sun protection

There was a very nice sneak peak of summer yesterday afternoon, it made me and Gay Gardens terribly happy! There’s nothing better than sitting in the garden feeling the sun on our skin, what’s rare is wonderful. Although I love the sun I’m always very mindful of the damage that it can cause.

Skin cancer has increased by over 300% since 1994. That’s terrifying statistics, the reason for this that pre 1990’s we didn’t use SPF, we used oils and the like. Burning our skin causing blisters, and then go back to the lovely white shade we were before. If you tan safely your tan will last way longer. If skin cancer is not enough the sun accelerates the ageing process. And all the lotions and potions and time and effort that we put into looking older become worthless. We really do need to protect our skin from the sun.

There are loads of new sunscreens on the market this year. Some if which are just genius! Garnier, Ambre Solaire, Dry Mist is something kinda magic, it comes with SPF of 20, 30 and 50 and it really is a dry mist, so no sand will stick to you. How incredible is that?? It has a RRP of €22.99 and is available nationwide.

The have also brought out Wet Skin which can be sprayed directly onto skin that is wet from the pool or sea. Again just genius! It comes with in SPF 10, 20 and 30. This would be perfect for the new wave of triathlon and iron men that seem to be taking over the country as you can spray as soon as your swim is over before you jump on your bike without stopping to dry yourself, saving precious minutes! It will also be perfect for surfers and kite surfers alike. It’s not greasy so your hands will not be slippy and it’s also water resistant. Wet Skin has a RRP €21.99 and is available nationwide.

Remember if an SPF has factor 30 in it you’re only protected from the sun for 30 mins and you need to re-apply every 30 minutes.
