L’Oreal Paris’ New ambassador

Maria Borges has been named as L’Oreal’s new ambassador. She is an incredible beauty who has the most wonderful story. Raised in Angola during the countries civil war and now having one of the most coveted gigs in the beauty industry, it really shows that you really do not have to be a TV star or daughter of one to make it in the fashion industry, which is so refreshing! She has been breaking all the rules in the industry since beginning modelling, named Forbes Magazines top model in 2013 and then in 2015 she was the first black girl to walk the Victoria Secret Show with her natural afro hair, it sounds crazy that that’s newsworthy but it is. She was discovered in 2010 after placing second in the Angolan edition of Elite Model Look. In 2012 she signed with Supreme Agency and then one month later she launched her career at fashion week where she walked 17 shows. For her second season she was a Givenchy exclusive and she is still Riccardo Tisci’s favourite model and she even calls him her godfather. She has graced the pages of some of the worlds biggest fashion magazines, with French, Italian, British, Spanish, German and Portuguese Vogue among them.

Maria keep breaking down those walls you are truly an inspiration to all!

I BELIEVE IN THE BEAUTY OF DIVERSITY AND THE EMPOWERING MESSAGE THAT A GIRL WHO STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM CAN BECOME AN INTERNATIONAL BEAUTY SYMBOL. AND BE LIVING PROOF THAT OUR DREAMS ARE VALID AND THE FUTURE AHEAD OF US IS BRIGHT. THANK YOU L’ORÉAL PARIS, WE’RE ALL WORTH IT.”
