Recently I tried Urban Veda, I actually had a facial with them in a pop up salon. The brand is based on Ayurveda’s holistic health and wellbeing system which originated in the Himalayas 5000 years ago, so there are literally thousands of years of knowledge and practice being used in this affordable brand. Ayurveda is based on the healing and therapeutic properties of plants which will bring your skin to a natural balance. Of course the brand has adapted the range to insure that modern living and environmental factors can also be balanced on your skin. Most importantly the brand only uses natural ingredients to insure the main ethos of Ayurveda is intact.
The products are packed with plants rich in vitamins, antioxidants, essential fatty acids and phytonutrients all of which keep your skins balance where it should be. They will sooth skin issues and help with unwanted redness.
The whole brand is certified by the Vegetarian Society and the majority are suitable for vegans. They do not use any animal-derived ingredients apart from cruelty-free natural honey or beeswax. Of course as a holistic brand they have never and will never test on animals, which recently has become a huge issue. And rightly so when modern technology allows us to test products in the lab where they are actually more detailed then testing on animals. There are no parabens in the brand and all of the packaging is recyclable and better than it just being recyclable they are all made from recycled plastic. Any paper used in the brand are from Forest Sustainability Certified sources and they support the charity Trees for Cities.
There are three different ranges in the brand and you need to fill out the online or in-store questionnaire to figure what dosha you are. You can fill it out here. Of course in true typical Leonard fashion I was all three doshas, never content to just be one stereotype me.
I fecking loved the shower gel and body lotion, they smelled amazing and the lotion soaked into my skin in less than a minute, I brought it to Canada with me so my skin was terribly dry after the long flight and it worked wonders. I think the true test of good products is if I buy them after the press sample I was given runs out, I bought the shower gel and not just once! They also sell these mini travel sets with carry-on size products and I have bought these for friends who are travelling. The facial oil is beautiful and I will be purchasing that again when I run out of the one I am using and they have not launched in Ireland so that is an issue!!
The prices are really affordable, the most expensive product are the oils and at €39.99 for 30ml they are a steel. The body wash is €17.99, they have a set that includes shower gel, body scrub and body lotion which costs €44.95, perfect gift idea!! You can buy them on-line here or in Avoca stores, this is where I got mine.
